How to Make Candy Cane Ornament

  • Fold your fabric in half, place a piece of batting in the middle, pin the pattern in place, and cut out the fabric and batting all in one step using regular scissors.  You’ll pink the edges after you sew the pieces together.
  • You should now have two pieces of fabric and one piece of batting cut out. Make sure they are laid out like this with one piece of fabric right side facing down, then the batting, and then the second piece of fabric on top with right side facing up.
  • Pin the pieces together.
  • Sew around the perimeter of the candy cane using a 1/4″ seam allowance. Next, pink the edges, and then follow the instructions above for attaching the twine. **For this part, you can use a walking foot to prevent the fabric from creeping.  I decided to forgo this and just use my regular sewing machine foot.  Any irregularities will be cut off when you pink the edges later.
